And also Autonauts tbh. I love it okay! It's great research and it teaches visual coding (scratch.mit.edu style), so I can't help but love it. Autonauts has survival elements but mostly it helps me reframe my thinking around logic. I want to enjoy the freedom to experiment with how to get started when it comes to SurvivEscape and game dev in general. Live streaming and content creating is what I like to do in a professional sense. And while I want to be as good as professional at game dev, I don't want to approach it in a fully professional way. Okay, that didn't sound right. What I mean is, I'm still learning a lot when it comes to logic, and I don't want to seek out the most efficient method to make SurvivEscape the quickest. That, in my mind, is anti-professional since it goes against a profit motive which would seek to produce something ASAP. I want to treat my team like professionals, and I want to operate within dev circles professionally, but just putting the game together is something I want to enjoy and carefully learn from. Slow 'n steady, you know? ⚓🐟
So I'm going to experiment with different SE iterating which may look like what I've always been doing. Or it may not.
Whatever happens, I hope you'll have fun too 🥰
Stream starts in 50 minutes from this post's timestamp! Use the home page's countdown to keep exact track.
Monday show is the Tuesday show from now on I think, apparently. No seriously! Tuesdays and Fridays are going to work better than Mondays and Thursdays . Off we go then! SurvivEscape + Dreams will be the big focus tomorrow... in addition to Autonauts -- It's great inspiration. Tweets, member pre-show, and actual show show will drop Tuesday morning/afternoon! (eastern time aka EST) Hey it looks like frequent Dreams streamer JoeRyan is live right now... I will give him a host and recommend yall go give him a watch if you can!
Yes yes yes, the show is happening soon! 40 minutes from this post's timestamp, the show will begin! I'm going to start out with a little Dreams musicstuff! 😱🎶 There's a curation-friendly playlist that myself and Nite-Owl have been working on for a long time, and I want to keep putting it together but on stream this time! It's going to make getting it done a lot easier haha. Primarily I want it to look nice, work intuitively, and be easy to add/remove songs from. It's secondary (and more ambitious) goal is to be impervious to scene rewinding , so that it can be used while creating without the worry that the song will be reset during a rewind. It kinda works! Then into the meat and potatoes: Search 'n Shape & Search 'n Share (the latter named for friend code sharing). Our Dreams curation challenges still need some tidying and contextualizing as Season 1. I want to really focus on this today. Season 2 setup is important, but I hope that with an attractive and useful Season 1 mega-collection, the next set of challenges will be more appealing - or at least have a more cohesive direction 😅 Which will, in turn, at least look appealing. It may or may not draw more participants, but then again... It could 😜 For Search 'n Share , I want to start suspecting out what resources already exist for friend-code sharing in Game Builder Garage . I'm sure reddit will come up, and of course there will be trailers on YouTube. But I'm most interested in the creator-led websites and resources (like Discord servers) that make sharing friend-codes easier. Of course, trolling YouTube for trailers is gonna be a big focus haha. Although trailers may not be necessary since we'll try out the games ourselves anyway 😈 Finally, when breaktimes become desirable, it's off to Suspects: Mystery Mansion for more chaos, accusations, killing (!), and fun. Well that's the rundown yall! I'll see you soon 😅😅
